Kiwanis Fair of Blue Ridge

It’s time once again for the Kiwanis Fair of Blue Ridge in Blue Ridge, Georgia. Come on out and have some fun. The fair will be in town from September 18 through 22, 2012. There will be lots of rides, games, food, and local entertainers will be performing every day.

You can purchase advance tickets at the following locations: United Community Bank, Kevin Panter Insurance, and Hidden Treasures Thrift Store.

Valentine’s Day Party

ValentineBring your special someone to the party at L & L Beanery in Blue Ridge, Georgia on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2012 beginning at 6 PM. It will be an evening of candlelight, music, dancing, and dessert.

Tractor Tours at Mercier Orchards

ApplesFor three weekends starting August 6, 2011, Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge, Georgia is offering free tractor rides through their apple orchard. Come on out and learn about the history of the orchard and see the apple house while enjoying a beautiful day in the North Georgia mountains.

If you choose to come out on August 6 or 7, 2011, you can take part in some pond fishing at the family farm pond. Times are Saturday, 9 AM to 3 PM and Sunday, 10 AM to 2 PM. After your tractor ride, you will be dropped off at the pond where Blue Ridge Mountain Trout Unlimited will be giving fly fishing demonstrations, some education on all things fishing and will have cane poles available to drop in a line. Huck’s Lost Mine

Huck's Lost MineVisit Huck’s Lost Mine in Blue Ridge, Georgia for an incredible, authentic gem mining experience. The whole family will have a blast looking for rubies, sapphires, and many other gems in the 50 foot water flume, and what a thrill when a gemstone is found! All of the equipment is provided for you and no experience is necessary, so all you have to do when you get there is prepare to have fun. You can also enjoy playing a round of putt putt golf in their indoor miniature golf course.

Huck’s is a great place for a field trip. Not only will the children have a fun hands-on mining experience, but with the helpful, friendly staff  on hand to answer all their questions, they can learn something too! If you can’t bring the children to Huck’s Lost Mine, let them bring the Mine to you. They have a Mobile Gem Mining Wagon that is perfect for large groups and schools, and provide everything necessary to give kids and adults alike a wonderful learning experience.

Mercier Orchards

Visit Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge, Georgia on April 16 – 17, 2011 to get a free tractor ride through the orchards along with some interesting history on the orchard. The rides will be available both days from 10 AM to 4 PM, weather permitting. Bring your camera and get some nice pictures of the orchards and the old apple house. Strawberries should be available in the store!

April 23, 2011 is a busy day at Mercier Orchards.

  • Children’s Bakery Tour and Class Bunny Project from 9 AM to 11 AM. The price is $25 for the first child, $20 for each additional child. You must pre-pay to reserve the spot for your children.
  • Furry Friends Day fundraiser for Relay for Life. Bring your dogs out and enter them into a beauty contest. There will be facepainting, a bake sale, and Sew Cute handmade creations. All proceeds from this event will benefit Relay for Life.
  • Strawberry Cook Off. This is the first in a series of cook offs Mercier Orchards will be having featuring their fruits. All participants should bring their food entry along with a copy of the recipe by 11 AM. Judging will begin at 11:30 AM and entries will be judged on taste, appearance, and the best use of the fruit. Awards will be presented at noon.

Make a note that May 7, 2011 is the beginning of U-Pick Strawberries. Come out and pick some of the freshest strawberries around!
