A Murder is Announced

Blue Ridge Community Theater in Blue Ridge, Georgia presents “A Murder is Announced”, a play adapted from an Agatha Christie novel. An advertisement is placed in the local newspaper stating the time and place of a murder that is going to occur at Miss Blacklock’s Victorian home. This brings many curious people to the home only for them to actually witness a murder. This is a classic murder mystery with lots of twists and turns.

The performance will run from May 10 through 27, 2012. Showtimes are Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 PM, Sunday matinees at 2 PM. Tickets are $18 for adults, $16.20 for seniors 65+, $9 for students college and younger, $14.40 for groups of 10 or more. For more information, call 706-632-9223.

Classic Car Show

The Georgia Mountains Classic Car Show is taking place on May 12, 2012 at the City Park in downtown Blue Ridge, Georgia. See some of the best classic cars out there! Registration starts at 9 AM. Many door prizes and trophies will be awarded. Specialty awards will be given for Mayor’s Choice, Chief of Police Choice, Best Chevy and Best Ford, just to name a few. Both Danny Schmidt and Carrie Elkin are from Austin, Texas and have had very successful singing and songwriting careers in the folk music world independent of each other. U-Pick Strawberries

Strawberries will soon be ripe for the pickin’ and you can do just that at Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge, Georgia every weekend in the month of May, 2012. Mercier Orchards offers a ride through the orchard where you can pick your own delicious strawberries. Not only do they offer u-pick strawberries but you can come back later in the year for the u-pick cherries and blueberries.

Even if you don’t want to pick your own strawberries, come by to shop for some tasty items at the Country Store. They are open everyday from 7 AM to 8 PM. Music on La Veranda

The Cucina Rustica restaurant in Blue Ridge, Georgia is hosting Music on La Veranda, an afternoon of music, food, and cocktails to benefit Open Arms of Blue Ridge on April 28, 2012 from 1 PM to 4 PM. This intimate outdoor venue is the perfect place for music and fellowship. Come listen to the Rhythm Jaxx Band from Tennessee as you sample some delicious Italian food and great wine from Cucina Rustica.

Tickets are $20 per person for covered seating and $10 per person if you bring your own chair. Tickets are still available but space is limited so get your tickets soon! All proceeds will go to Open Arms of Blue Ridge, a non profit organization that helps abused and neglected children.

The 5th annual Taste of Blue Ridge is happening on April 21, 2012 from 5 PM to 8 PM at Hi Country Events in Blue Ridge, Georgia. This annual event, sponsored by the Humane Society of Blue Ridge, is an evening of dining and dancing with over 30 restaurants represented, beer and wine vendors, live entertainment and silent and live auctions. 15th Annual Blue Ridge Mtn. Adventure Race

Join in the adventure of the 15th annual Blue Ridge Mountain Adventure Race in Blue Ridge, Georgia on April 14, 2012. There will be 2 different adventure races to choose from. The traditional race, the Elite Race, is a 6 to 10 hour race and the new race, the Sport Race, is a shorter 4 to 6 hour course. Both races challenge teams of 2 or 3 members (plus an additional support member) in running, paddling, mountain biking, and navigating through the beautiful North Georgia mountains. Trophies will be awarded.

The races finish at the downtown Blue Ridge City Park in front of the Art Center. Plan to enjoy the after race party/meal for the teams at the park. You can purchase extra tickets for the party when you register for the race.

2012 Easter Egg Hunt

Bring the children out to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Blue Ridge, Georgia on April 7, 2012 for the 16th annual Easter Egg Hunt beginning at 1 PM. The hunt will include more than 1,000 real eggs and 1,000 plastic eggs filled with fun little goodies hidden all around the church grounds.
