ShoppingWant to avoid shopping the malls on Black Friday but still get some great holiday deals? Try visiting downtown Blue Ridge, GA on Friday, November 26, 2010 for their version called Blue Friday to get some of your shopping done. Many stores in downtown Blue Ridge will be open at 7 AM with refreshments and special deals. There will be entertainment for you to enjoy throughout the town up until closing time. Blue Ridge Turkey Trot 2010

Kick your Thanksgiving Day off right with the Blue Ridge Turkey Trot 2010 on November 25, 2010. The 5k race/walk begins at 8 AM at the Downtown Park in Blue Ridge. This is a fun event for people of all ages and abilities. You can walk, jog, or run but whichever you choose, have a good time. There will be awards given to the top 3 male and female. All those who register will receive a commemorative T-shirt. You must register for the race by November 20, 2010 to receive your t-shirt on Thanksgiving Day.

Registration begins at 7 AM and is $15.75 per person. All proceeds go to local charities in Blue Ridge, Georgia. For more information and details, contact 727-458-8556.

Halloween

Clowns for HalloweenHalloween in downtown Blue Ridge, Georgia is sure to be a scream on October 30, 2010. The fun begins at 4:30 PM. Dress in your favorite costume and enter yourself in the costume contest at 5 PM or you can even dress your pet and enter it in a costume contest at 7:30 PM. Merchants will stay open late for children to collect some treats and Halloween movies will be shown in the park beginning at dusk. Visit the Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkin PatchHop aboard the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway and it will take you on a scenic train ride to visit Farmer Brown at his pumpkin patch on Sunday, October 24, 2010. You get off the train at the pumpkin patch where you can pick out your very own pumpkin, visit with Farmer Brown, and then return to Blue Ridge. The train will depart from the depot at 1 PM and 3 PM.

Paws in the Park

DogSpend a fun day with your pet at the 4th annual Paws in the Park Fall Festival on October 23, 2010 from 10 AM to 2PM. It takes place at the Downtown Blue Ridge City Park and will be a day of everything pets including a pet parade, costume contest, a blessing of the pets, a rabies clinic, microchipping and so much more. The pet parade begins at 10 AM at the corner of East Main and Summit Street and is an event not to be missed!

Wine tastingEnjoy an evening of toasting the arts with a wine and cheese tasting on October 23, 2010 in the Art Center located in the old historic Fannin County Courthouse. Listen to the talented musicians from the music department of Reinhardt University as they entertain you with classical music.  Peruse the items being auctioned in the silent and live auctions and stroll through the gallery to see the fine displays of art.

This wonderful evening is being brought to you by the Blue Ridge Mountain Arts Association.  Tickets are limited so you’ll want to purchase them soon!  Tickets in advance are $30 per person, $35 at the door. Indiegrrl Fall Festival

Singing womanEnjoy a weekend of camping in the beautiful mountains of North Georgia while you are entertained by the many talented people who will be performing at the Indiegrrl Fall Festival at Jonica Gap Campground October 8 – 10, 2010. Many local artisans and crafters will have booths set up selling their arts and crafts.

Indiegrrl – Women in the Arts is an organization dedicated to promoting women artists and you will have a chance to be entertained by many talented women at this festival.
