2011 Independence Day CelebrationThe 4th of July celebration comes early to Blue Ridge, Georgia. Visit Lake Blue Ridge on Saturday, July 2, 2011 for the Independence Day party. Palm Trees at SunsetLight up Blue Ridge is sponsoring this tropical party with wine, hors d’oerves, a pig roast and live entertainment. You get on a tour bus that leaves at 5 PM taking you to an undisclosed location for an exciting evening. The bus brings you back at 9:30 PM. The event takes place on June 25, 2011.

Taste of Blue Ridge

This will be a wonderful evening of dining and dancing. Many local restaurants will be providing the evening’s meal and there will be beer and wine. Be ready to place your bids on some great items in the live and silent auctions that will be going on during the event. There will be live entertainment so be prepared to get some dancing in also!

This wonderful fundraiser will be held at Hi Country Events. Tickets are $30 in advance, $40 at the door. Last year’s event sold out so don’t wait until you are at the door! Fire and Ice Sculpting

Ice SculptingCome on out to the Downtown Blue Ridge City Park on February 19, 2011 for the Fire and Ice Chili Cookoff and Ice Sculpting event. Watch professional ice carvers as they demonstrate their artistic skills from 11 AM to 3 PM. Kids will enjoy watching them carve their names in the ice or help them with abstract ice sculptures of their own. The chili cookoff is open to individuals, restaurants, and civic organizations and will go on from 1 PM to 4 PM. You can be a taster of many chili recipes for just $5. Be entertained by the music of local talent as well as some surprise entertainers alongside the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. ShoppingWant to avoid shopping the malls on Black Friday but still get some great holiday deals? Try visiting downtown Blue Ridge, GA on Friday, November 26, 2010 for their version called Blue Friday to get some of your shopping done. Many stores in downtown Blue Ridge will be open at 7 AM with refreshments and special deals. There will be entertainment for you to enjoy throughout the town up until closing time. Blue Ridge Turkey Trot 2010

Kick your Thanksgiving Day off right with the Blue Ridge Turkey Trot 2010 on November 25, 2010. The 5k race/walk begins at 8 AM at the Downtown Park in Blue Ridge. This is a fun event for people of all ages and abilities. You can walk, jog, or run but whichever you choose, have a good time. There will be awards given to the top 3 male and female. All those who register will receive a commemorative T-shirt. You must register for the race by November 20, 2010 to receive your t-shirt on Thanksgiving Day.

Registration begins at 7 AM and is $15.75 per person. All proceeds go to local charities in Blue Ridge, Georgia. For more information and details, contact 727-458-8556.

Halloween

Clowns for HalloweenHalloween in downtown Blue Ridge, Georgia is sure to be a scream on October 30, 2010. The fun begins at 4:30 PM. Dress in your favorite costume and enter yourself in the costume contest at 5 PM or you can even dress your pet and enter it in a costume contest at 7:30 PM. Merchants will stay open late for children to collect some treats and Halloween movies will be shown in the park beginning at dusk.
