2012 Labor Day BBQ

Come one, come all to the Labor Day BBQ in the downtown Blue Ridge City Park in Blue Ridge, Georgia on September 3, 2012 from 11:30 AM to 6 PM. There will be family style entertainment with Old Time, Bluegrass, and Gospel music and lots of tasty barbecue with all the fixins’. It’s going to take place rain or shine so make your plans to come out.

2012 Blue Ridge Kiwanis Rodeo

Rodeo BullThe 16th annual Blue Ridge Kiwanis Rodeo will be coming to town on August 17 – 18, 2012 at the Kiwanis Fairgrounds in Blue Ridge, Georgia. This year’s event will include Bareback Riding, Bronco Riding, Calf Roping, Team Roping, Steer Wrestling, Barrel Racing,  and Bull Riding. Also included are the famous Steer Dressing contest, Calf Scramble, and, new this year, the Ladies’ Calf Scramble. There will be a Boot Toss drawing that gives 5 registered participants a chance to  win $100 in cash or even a 2012 Dodge Ram 4×4.

Advance tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased at United Community Bank – Blue Ridge, United Community Bank – McCaysville, Community and Southern Bank – Blue Ridge, Parris Pharmacy, Mountain Valley Motors, Kevin Panter Insurance, and Beds Etc. – Ellijay. The Fox on the Fairway

The Blue Ridge Community Theater in Blue Ridge, Georgia presents “The Fox on the Fairway” by Ken Ludwig on August 16 – September 2, 2012. This comedic play is a tribute to the great English farces of the 1930s and 1940s where a caper pulls the rug out from under the stuffy members of a private country club.

Showtimes are 7:30 PM on Thurdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. 2 PM for Sunday matinees. Tickets are $18 for adults, $16.20 for seniors 65+, $9 for students college age and under, $14.40 for groups of 10 or more. A portion of the proceeds on opening night will go to benefit Open Arms of Blue Ridge, a worthy organization that helps abused and neglected children.
