Dixie Dock Dogs are coming to Blue Ridge

The Dixie Dock Dogs hold competitions all over Georgia and they are coming to The Cohutta Country Store in Blue Ridge, Georgia on June 22 – 24, 2012. Music and Art in Blue Ridge

June 16, 2012 is an eventful day in Blue Ridge, Georgia. Visit downtown Blue Ridge for the Galleries of East Main Art Walk. The Multitudes Gallery, High Country Art and Antiques, and Turning Leaf Wood Art offers an art walk from 5 PM to 8 PM on every 3rd Saturday of the month on East Main Street.

Maxwell Taylor will be returning to the Art Center for an evening performance from 7 PM to 9 PM. His soulful voice and legendary impersonations were so well received in his previous performance that he is back by popular demand.  Tickets are $20 per person. Another musical show taking place on June 16 will be An Evening of Bluegrass at the Fannin County Performing Arts Center. This is a fundraiser for the Empty Stocking Program and the bands featured will be One Goal, Five Mile Cove, Flatline, and Walking in Tradition. Ticket prices for adults are $8 in advance, $10 at the door, kids 6 – 12 are $4 in advance, $5 at the door. Go Blue for Kids Golf Tournament

GolferGet your team together and compete in the 1st annual Go Blue for Kids Golf Tournament at the Old Union Golf Club in Blairsville, Georgia on June 25, 2012 starting at 1 PM. This first annual golf tournament will be a competition between Fannin, Gilmer, Union, and Towns counties to see who has the best golf team. Not only will you win bragging rights if you win but just competing in this tournament is going to help kids in need through Open Arms of Blue Ridge. Each county represented will be limited to eight teams (foursomes) per county and will compete for best county team and all 32 teams will compete for best team overall. All winning teams will receive trophies with the best overall receiving a very large trophy.

Jonathan Byrd in Concert

The next musical artist to perform in the Live Music is Better concert series at the Blue Ridge Community Theater is Jonathan Byrd. This talented musician plays a mean acoustic guitar and his music touches on country with a taste of bluegrass, folk music, and rock and roll. His career started with the grand prize of a songwriting contest and he now has 5 CDs under his belt.
