15th Annual Blue Ridge Mtn. Adventure Race

Adventure RaceJoin in the adventure of the 15th annual Blue Ridge Mountain Adventure Race in Blue Ridge, Georgia on April 14, 2012. There will be 2 different adventure races to choose from. The traditional race, the Elite Race, is a 6 to 10 hour race and the new race, the Sport Race, is a shorter 4 to 6 hour course. Both races challenge teams of 2 or 3 members (plus an additional support member) in running, paddling, mountain biking, and navigating through the beautiful North Georgia mountains. Trophies will be awarded.

The races finish at the downtown Blue Ridge City Park in front of the Art Center. Plan to enjoy the after race party/meal for the teams at the park. You can purchase extra tickets for the party when you register for the race.

2012 Easter Egg Hunt

Happy EasterBring the children out to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Blue Ridge, Georgia on April 7, 2012 for the 16th annual Easter Egg Hunt beginning at 1 PM. The hunt will include more than 1,000 real eggs and 1,000 plastic eggs filled with fun little goodies hidden all around the church grounds. Sylvia

The next play coming to the Blue Ridge Community Theater in Blue Ridge, Georgia is “Sylvia”. It is about a couple who move to Manhattan after raising their children in the suburbs. The man, Greg, brings home a dog who found him in the park and the only thing he knows about the dog is her nametag says her name is Sylvia. This is a funny, heartwarming tale about the man’s love of his dog told from the dog’s perspective.

The show’s run is from April 5 through April 22, 2012. Showtimes are 7:30 PM on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays and 2 PM matinees on Sundays. Tickets are $18 for adults, $16.20 for seniors 65+, $9 for students college age and younger, and $14.40 for groups of 10 or more. There are also options for Season tickets and Flex passes. The heat is on!

Live Music is Better with Ronny Cox

A well known actor and singer/songwriter, Ronny Cox along with Radoslav  Lorkovic and Karen Mal will be performing at the Blue Ridge Community Theater in Blue Ridge, Georgia on March 31, 2012 as part of the Live Music is Better concert series. Ronny Cox made his film debut in the movie “Deliverance” and played guitar in Dueling Banjos from that movie. 2012 marks the 40th anniversary of “Deliverance” and Mr. Cox has written a book recounting his experiences of filming the movie. Pre-release copies of the book will be available at this very special performance. Ronny Cox has had a successful career in film and TV and also enjoys singing and songwriting. He spends about half of his time acting and the other half performing his music in folk festivals, concert venues, and small theaters.
