Dixie Swim Club

The next play coming up in the 2011 season at the Blue Ridge Community Theater in Blue Ridge, Georgia is the Dixie Swim Club. This show will be performed on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from May 6, 2011 to May 29, 2011.

The story takes you on a 33 year journey through the lives of 5 southern women who met as teenagers as part of a swim team. Every year they leave their families at home and get together at the beach to reconnect with each other. You will share in the joys and happiness as well as the hurts and heartaches as you follow along through the lives of the characters.

Showtimes are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 PM, Sunday matinees are at 2 PM. Tickets are $18.00 for adults, $16.20 for seniors 65 and older, and $9.00 for students. Group rates are available. Contact the box office at 706-632-9223 for more information and to purchase tickets.

Huck’s Lost Mine

They have a Mobile Gem Mining Wagon that is perfect for large groups and schools, and provide everything necessary to give kids and adults alike a wonderful learning experience.

Mercier Orchards

Visit Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge, Georgia on April 16 – 17, 2011 to get a free tractor ride through the orchards along with some interesting history on the orchard. The rides will be available both days from 10 AM to 4 PM, weather permitting. Bring your camera and get some nice pictures of the orchards and the old apple house. Strawberries should be available in the store!

April 23, 2011 is a busy day at Mercier Orchards.

  • Children’s Bakery Tour and Class Bunny Project from 9 AM to 11 AM. The price is $25 for the first child, $20 for each additional child. You must pre-pay to reserve the spot for your children.
  • Furry Friends Day fundraiser for Relay for Life. Bring your dogs out and enter them into a beauty contest. There will be facepainting, a bake sale, and Sew Cute handmade creations. All proceeds from this event will benefit Relay for Life.
  • Strawberry Cook Off. This is the first in a series of cook offs Mercier Orchards will be having featuring their fruits. All participants should bring their food entry along with a copy of the recipe by 11 AM. Judging will begin at 11:30 AM and entries will be judged on taste, appearance, and the best use of the fruit. Awards will be presented at noon.

Make a note that May 7, 2011 is the beginning of U-Pick Strawberries. Come out and pick some of the freshest strawberries around!

Easter Egg Hunt and Parade

Easter BunnyTreat your children to breakfast at either L & L Beanery or Serenity Gardens Cafe in Blue Ridge, Georgia and get their pictures taken with the Easter Bunny on April 16, 2011 at 9 AM.  Reservations for breakfast are required. After breakfast, bring the kids out to the historic Blue Ridge City Park in the heart of downtown Blue Ridge  for an Easter egg hunt beginning at 11 AM. Over 4000 eggs will be hidden with golden prize eggs among them. The kids must be 12 or younger to participate.

Beginning at 12 Noon is the Easter parade. A prize will go to the Best Float!

Taste of Blue Ridge

DiningDon’t miss the 4th annual Taste of Blue Ridge to benefit the Humane Society of Blue Ridge, Georgia on April 16, 2011 from 5 PM to 8 PM. This will be a wonderful evening of dining and dancing. Many local restaurants will be providing the evening’s meal and there will be beer and wine. Be ready to place your bids on some great items in the live and silent auctions that will be going on during the event. There will be live entertainment so be prepared to get some dancing in also!

This wonderful fundraiser will be held at Hi Country Events. Tickets are $30 in advance, $40 at the door. Last year’s event sold out so don’t wait until you are at the door!
